Gaia’s first 3-day workshop in Brighton in March sold out quickly, so we’ve organized another one for August.
This is more like a mini-retreat than one of Gaia’s weekends, and (like a retreat), the numbers are limited to 18 participants.
Brighton is a fitting place to learn about how to look at the learnt patterns that hold you back from being fully yourself and the real true you (given the city’s permissive quality, where people can be fully themselves without any judgement).
You will be immersed in an investigation of what it is that’s held you back from being fully yourself; what feelings and ideas you’ve taken on about life and yourself (usually when we were young) that stop you being and feeling free.
And then you’ll touch and feel that sense of freedom: what it’s like to emerge from those patterns and be happy to be you, just as you are (worthy, wanted, loveable and hugely valuable).

Monday 26th, 10am – 4pm
There will be breaks for lunch on Saturday and Sunday. The Loft is in the heart of Brighton so there’s a vast choice of eateries. Accommodation is not included.

“LIFE IS REALLY HARD WORK.”

Even if it is a familiar feeling, is that how you want to live your life?
HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?
How do we end up here?
Often, early in life, we don t experience enough simple support and approval,
or safe and loving holding in just being as we are.
This brings about an experience of –
“I am not enough as I am”.
This feeling is painful and scary
(although unnatural, no child chooses to feel that, it is an erroneous conclusion made from not receiving the needed support).
From this point on we develop adaptive behaviours aimed at improving ourselves now that the conclusion is that just being us is not enough.
And so the long journey of trying begins.
Trying to do the right thing.
Trying to be nice.
Trying not to be a burden.
Trying to be better, the best.
Trying to be of help.
But the harder we try the more we actually move away from the only place that feels good:
But the need to try hard was learnt at a time when that was required and very important.
So to free ourselves from this survival mechanism we need to –
- see how we do this
- experience that we’ll be okay without trying
- understand that it was all simply fear-driven.
THE WORK OF LIBERATION
In this long-weekend, Gaia brings together Developmental Trauma Work, Breathwork and Energy work. All delicious ‘work’ that leads to liberation.
Developmental Trauma Work enables the moving through adaptive and survival patterns. ‘Trauma’ here doesn’t refer to the kind of trauma that you might imagine (of accident or abuse, for example), but more the traumatic effect of not having our needs met as young ones. This science-based work observes that not meeting such core needs can indeed have traumatic and long-lasting effects.
Energy Work demonstrates with an incredible immediacy that when we try hard the flow of energy (and the joy that comes with it) actually stops.
Breathwork operates deeply beneath the mental system and connects us with a profound state of being, which is so beautiful it really invites people into considering living from a different place within themselves.
The mix of these three elements supports a deep re-connection to the most natural and powerful place:
